Labor Day...and other thoughts...

Three of my six kids were born on holidays. Debbie on Labor Day (and it was, in the true sense of the word), Linda and John on Mothers' Day, five years apart.

In those days, boy did I love the 50s, St. Mary's Hospital in Reno made a huge event of having a baby on Mothers' Day, complete with a candlelight steak and champagne dinner for the new mom and dad. John and Wendy were born at Washoe Medical, which had also picked up on the much-lauded Mothers' Day dinner...so I lucked out a second time. (culinarily speaking....Actually, I lucked out all six times)

Yesterday, I went for barbecue at Wendy's house...it was so nice. Brian grills a mean burger. The girls were delightful. Wendy and Brooke talked of reading Twilight, which Lori and her girls had told them about at the hospital. They loved it and are anxiously awaiting New Moon and the one after that which is supposed to be out in 07.....too long says Brooke. :)) What's anyone else reading these days? Share.

Today, I'm going to check out the garage sales....want to get back to selling on EBAY so time to check out what's out there.

I'm so anxious to see pictures and hear tales about Cora's birthday party!!! Hint hint.

Hope you're all having a nice long weekend....love you...

My Jeremy, Jason and Jordan were all born at St. Mary's too, not on holidays but we got the dinner too. They called it the Stork Dinner or something similar to that. I wonder if they still do that? Probably not unless it is pre approved by the insurance company as Medically necessary. Joshua was the only one born at Washoe Medical. Rachel was born at St. Mary's also.

You know that everyday is a holiday now. You can go on line and look it up. For example March 31st is Bunsen Burner Day, I'm not joking. It is also Mohammed's birthday.

As far as reading is concerned I don't read really. Jordan is reading Huckleberry Finn an none to amused by it. He is offended that they talk weird and say the "N" word every other page.

As far as Labor Day festivities, we aren't doing anything special. Watching a "Closer" marathon if that counts :)

Cora's Party was fun, she looked so cute and all the little kids appeared to be having a blast. She loved the baby doll she got from Rachel and the plastic fruit seemed to be a big hit as well. I enjoyed looking at the little girl clothes...so cute, Amy & Lori have such good taste. Chelsea and Shawn were wonderful hosts, and it was great to see everyone who made it.

Lilly pretty much kept going upstairs so people wouldn't look at her, so funny, and Jonas was tackling anyone he could, mostly Elijah, and trying to take toys away from others...not the best sharer yet, we are working on that one. I have often said we need to send him to Sarah Boot camp and get him on track. Elijah and Elizabeth were adorable and perfect as usual, they are so good. Elizabeth must have spent 1/2 hour cuddling with Lori, until Gramma got jealous and put a stop to that. I am sure she thought it was me...not. Elijah is so independent he had no time for cuddling.

Sarah took some pictures for me, I couldn't find my glasses...big surprise, but it will be a while before I use the rest of the roll. There was plenty of picture taking going on though so I am guessing the blogs will be full of them very soon.

OK so that was more rambling than you bargained for I bet.

Not too much rambling at all, Linda, I LOVE it!! Hmm...I hope Bunsen Burner day doesn't spoil Lori's or Jason's thunder...geez...you couldn't make this stuff up. I'm kind of surprised that they even allow Huck Finn in this PC world today. Is CLOSER in the business sense as in closing a deal, or as being next to...closer? My TV knowledge is sadly lacking.Only marathon I ever watched was MONK...too funny...that guy's a stitch. Shoot...I thought the special feasts at the hospital were just for Mothers' Day....would have planned differently had I known :) NOT

Closer is on TNT about a Police Chief "Kyra Sedgwick" and her Squad. There are several other actors I like in it as well, Sarah told me I'd like it and she was correct. It took me a few episodes because of her accent which I really don't like too much. Immediately after that is "Heartland which I also am addicted to. Thank goodness for DVR. Terry and I recently started watching "Monk" also on a marathon and now it is one of our regulars, love it.

OK so I am so annoyed...I gave birth to twins and got gray meatloaf and what I think was carrots puree...I mean it was c-section but that should not take away from the fact that I did give birth...but mom is probably right, the insurance company probably needs an appeal letter...can you tell I am really bugged by this...hope so. I loved the pictures of aunt Debbie. thank you uncle john for that. love you all.

Sadly I took absolutely no pictures of Cora's birthday festivities but Amy, on the other hand, took about 200. I'm leaving it up to her to post a blog about our weekend until I can get my hands on some of the pictures...ok Amy? :)
